Dylan J. Steinberg, Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, announced that Darius Matylewich has been sentenced to 240 months in prison for coercion and enticement of a minor. The sentence was handed down by Judge Jennifer L. Hall on July 2, 2025.

Court documents reveal that Matylewich was arrested by the FBI after he took an 11-year-old girl from her New Jersey home to his residence in Bear, Delaware for sexual activity. The Wayne Township Police Department reported the girl missing on September 10, 2023. Investigations led to Matylewich’s arrest and the safe recovery of the victim with assistance from local police departments.

Further investigation showed that Matylewich met the victim online through video games and social media platforms. Forensic analysis uncovered messages where he coerced her into performing sexual acts and producing child pornography. He also used his phone to secretly record these activities.

Acting U.S. Attorney Steinberg commented, “This sentence sends a clear message: those who harm the community’s most vulnerable will be held fully accountable for their actions.” He praised law enforcement agencies for their swift action in recovering the victim and ensuring justice.

FBI Baltimore Acting Special Agent Amanda M. Koldjeski added, “Nothing can erase the harm Matylewich inflicted on an innocent child… Stopping predators like Matylewich from harming children remains a top priority.”

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin P. Pierce and Michelle Thurstlic-O’Neill with investigations conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies including the FBI’s Delaware Violent Crime and Safe Streets Taskforce.
